Mangalore, Dec 28: Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde inaugurated the ‘Scouting-Guiding Centenary Celebrations’ and district scouts and guides rally at Bharat Scouts-Guides training centre at Pilikula here on Wednesday December 27.

 

Speaking on the occasion he stressed on the need to be honest and transparent in order to stop the menace of corruption in the society. He lamented the fact that India has lost about 26,000 crore due to corruption which has had a huge impact on our economy as well as blotted our image.

The two-day rally will witness participation from over 300 scouts and guides along with 38 captains from various schools in the district.

There will also be competitions like drawing, essay writing, dance, kite-making and others.


The Himalayan Woodbadge awards were presented to Ravindranath M J, Devdas Kini and Valerian Monteiro on the occasion.

Among those present were Scouts Headquarters commissioner U Gopalkrishna Bhat, Bharat Scouts and Guides patron Kudpi Jagdish Shenoy, district chief commissioner I A Kairanna, district commissioner (scouts) N G Mohan, district commissioner (guides) Irene D’Cunha and others.
