Mangalore, Dec 29:  Deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao at a press meet here on Thursday December 28 appealed to the public for their cooperation in revising the voters’ lists.  The list consisting of various assembly constituencies of DK district will be updated between January 1 and 31, 2007.  Citizens who have completed 18 years of age, and permanent residents of the area will be included in the list, he said.

The counters and supervisors will personally visit each house in the city, Ullal, Bantwal  and Suratkal assembly constituencies and seek details from the people. In places like Vittal, Puttur, Sullia and Beltangady constituencies, a brief revision of voters list will be held. The election identity card of the family members will have to be produced to the supervisors.

Seven special vigilance teams will be deployed to look after the revising process, will give surprise visits to check on the progress of the process. 

The revised list will be published on March 12, 2007.  Voters will then get a chance to verify the details and seek for corrections by April 2.
