Brahmavar, Dec 30: The much awaited 236th Wilfy Nite to be held here is getting closer. The mega event on the first day of the New Year 2007 will be held in the Makkala Mantapa of SMS Pre University College from 6 pm.
From master organizers Karaval Milan, Dubai in association with Expressions, Barkur, the variety entertainment programme coincides with the completion of 7 successful years of Karaval Milan in the UAE.
Karaval Milan, Dubai is an association of 19 parishes from Kundapur and Kallianpur Varado and is one of the leading associations in the UAE that is well-known to bring novelty and innovation in each and every programme it organizes.
The 236th Wilfy Nite is the first programme the association is organizing in its home land.
Karaval Milan, under the able leadership of Charles Mascarenhas, has already produced some wonderful mega programmes in Dubai that include performances by Sandesha troupe, Wilson Olivera Nite in Dubai. In association with Expressions, Barkut, a very talented and dynamic local group of Brahmavar area, Wilfy Nite is sure to be a huge success.
Adding a social touch to the entertainment programme is the cause. A part of the proceeds of the show will be donated to Christa Jyothi Children's Home, Kolalagiri. In this orphanage nearly 30 children including children from difficult circumstances, broken homes, AIDS victims etc.
Three persons will be honoured on the occasion. M R Vasudeva will be honoured for his spirited service as the director of Bajpe Airport, Walter Nandalike, editor-in-chief of Daijworld.com for bringing a revolution in the e-Media of the region and P D Vaz for his contributions to the field of Konkani literature.
The huge demand for tickets has indicted that the estimated crowd may cross a figure of 2,000.
Konkan Kogull Wilfy’s troupe will include Wilfy’s daughter Veena who will be performing after a gap of several years. Sherlin, Wilfy’s daughter-in-law (Vishwas’wife) will make her debut in her home town.
Austin D'Souza Prabhu, Chicago will be performing in one of the skits after a long absence on the Indian stage. The Dolla and Kulla duo and the Me-Mo-Ri (Melwyn – Moras – Richa) will be the star entertainers in the skits. The singers include Wilfy, Meena, Veena, Vishwas, Sherlin, Esthel, Prem, Claud and Princia, while the show will be compered by Walter Nandalike.
