Bantwal, Dec 31: Church of St Thomas, Ammebal celebrated its platinum jubilee on December 29.

Mangalore Diocese Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Barkur Diocese Bishop William D’Souza celebrated the solemn Eucharist.

In the stage programme held after the Mass, Administrator of the diocese Fr Joseph Lobo, Mangalore South Varado Vicar Fr Andrew D’Souza, Fr Mark Walder, parish priest Sidakatte, Fr Joseph Machodo, parish priest Pamboor and Fr Walter D’Souza, parish priest of Ammebal parish were present of the dais.

Secretary of the parish council Felix D’Souza read the report of the church activities. On the occasion the priests, vice-presidents, gurkars and retired teachers who had served in the parish earlier were honoured.

As a Jubilee year project a fund was created with a sum of Rs 75,000 for providing assistance to those poor people of the parish who were ill or faced any accident.
