Bank of Baroda branch robbed in Tamil Nadu


Chennai, Jan 24 (IANS): In a midnight heist, burglars decamped with jewels worth around Rs.12 crore from a Bank of Baroda branch in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district, police said Saturday.

Police said burglars entered the bank branch in the district, 260 km from here, in the night through an adjacent unoccupied house.

The heist came to light when the bank staff entered the office Saturday morning.

Police have formed different investigation teams to crack the case.

Meanwhile, people who had mortgaged their jewellery with the bank for loans protested outside the bank.
