Correctional service medal for 32 prison personnel


New Delhi, Jan 25 (IANS): Thirty-two prison personnel were awarded correctional service medals Sunday on the eve of India's 66th Republic Day.

Six were awarded the President's Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service, while the remaining 26 were awarded the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service from various state jails across the country.

Assistant Superintendent M.A. Marigowda from Karnataka, Jailor Surendra Kumar Prusty from Odisha, Regional Probation Officer Pramoda Kumari Das (Female) from Odisha, Chief Head Warder R. Vijaya (Female) from Tamil Nadu, Deputy Jailor P. Eswara Moorthy from Tamil Nadu and Head Warder Amarpal Singh from Uttar Pradesh were awarded President's Correctional Medal for Distinguished Service.

From Delhi's Tihar Jail, Warder Jagdish Chander and Driver Shyam Sunder were awarded for Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

Four prison personnel each from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, three each from West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, two each from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Meghalaya and one each from Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana and Chhattisgarh were awarded the Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.
