Kundapur, Jan 27: Shivamogga MP, former chief minister, and BJP national vice president, B S Yeddyurappa, assured the people that all necessary steps to protect interests of the people of the state will be taken while implementing Kasturirangan report.

He was speaking after performing Bharat Mata Puja programme organized at the home of Saku Ganapa Mogaveera at Panchamukhi Nilaya at Batrahithlu near Tallur here on Monday January 26. He was on his way to participate in a religious programme organized in connection with dedicating the newly built stone shrine at Goddess Mahakali Temple and Koti Chennaya Garadi at Tallur to the world.

It may be recalled that Yeddyurappa has adopted Kerady village for overall development under his quota. He responded as above, when press persons questioned him about the adverse impact of Kasturirangan report on development. 'As per the original report, the state and central governments have been vested with the responsibility of ensuring that interests of aborigines and farmers in the area are not hurt. We are also bringing pressure on the concerned to organize widespread debate on the pros and cons of the implementation of this report, bringing in favourable ammendments, and deleting some of the villages from the purview of this report,' he explained.

When his attention was drawn towards the recent unwarranted incidents at Kody and Gangolli, which have been threatening to damage the delicate social fabric of religious harmony in the taluk, Yeddy said that instructions have been issued to the concerned officers to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future.

'Our country is moving fast on the path of progress. On January 26, Bharat Mata Puja programme is being organized at various places. The fact that this auspicious programme is held on Republic Day bodes well for the country. When every citizen of the country turns a patriot, the country can gallop towards the goal of total development,' he stated.

Yeddyurappa left for the religious programme at Tallur after the conclusion of this programme.

'When everyone moves on the path of righteousness, they enjoy peace and prosperity in their lives. Faith in divine powers and Daivas help individuals to gain confidence to move in the right direction in spite of challenges. May Goddess Mahakali prove auspicious to each one of her devotees. May she bless people to be pious and to always do right,' said former Karnataka chief minister, Yeddyurappa.
