Mumbai, Jan 28: PM Narendra Modi took to social media network Twitter to express his appreciation for the initiative taken by Salman Khan to not only clean up the country, but to inspire others to follow his example as well. The PM wrote," Once again, @BeingSalmanKhan makes a distinct & appreciable effort towards a Clean India. I congratulate him."

Popular actor Salman Khan who was nominated by the Prime Minister to work on the Swatch Bharat Abhyaan which is an initiative for a clearer India has since then made palpable strides in the aspired direction. He put his painting skills to the task and with the help of other painting professionals painted the outer walls of many houses as an effort to stop people from sticking ugly posters and pamphlets.

He began with a clean up drive at Karjat, in which he got down and dirty in order to inspire more to do what he was doing. While working on his next much anticipated film, "Bajrangi Bahijaan" opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan, he painted houses in the village of Hatluni. At his behest the entire crew of the movie lent a hand in this commendable effort.

He posted, “The Honorable Prime Minister nominated me for the Swachh Bharat campaign and I have cleaned and painted three villages in Maharashtra so far. I intend to continue with this initiative, but Swachh Bharat is not about what one of us can do. It’s about what each of us can do. So today, on Republic Day, I am taking this campaign social. I will nominate 100 followers a month for Swachh Bharat. Please start a sustainable Swachh Bharat initiative in and around your area of work or residence or both. Upload your before and after pictures or videos. Five of the best initiatives will get special mention on my Facebook page and also win a prize each. Kya bolte ho? Shuru karein? First list will be up tomorrow.”

Given that Salman Khan has a huge pull among the country's populace it is a no brainer to assume that everyone out there would definitely take on the challenge to get on Salman's Facebook page.
