Mangalore, Jan 3: The state government has approved a ‘Gadinanda Kannada Bhavan’ for Ullal at an estimated cost of Rs 68 lac. This move may well point towards the realization of the long cherished dream of building the Abbakka Bhavana in Ullal.
Veerarani Abbakka Utsav Samiti working president and Ullal town panchayat president Dinakar Ullal, while speaking to press persons here on Tuesday January 2 informed that the government has released a sum of Rs 20 lac as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations.
The foundation stone laying ceremony will be held in the near future. The chief minister and the deputy chief minister will be invited for the same, he added.
The Abbakka Bhavan will be constructed at Thokkottu near Ullal here and will have a seating capacity of 700.
The rest of the funds needed for the construction will be filled in through donations. Union minister of state for labour Oscar Fernandes and MLA U T Fareed have already donated Rs 5 lac each for the purpose, Dinakar said.
Among those present were Samiti general secretary Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvali, K Jayaram Shetty, U T Khader, Alfred D’Souza, Sadanand Bangera and Vani V Alva.
