Mangalore, Jan 3: Gowda Saraswath Brahman (GSB) Mahila Vranda here will celebrate its silver jubilee on Saturday January 6 and Sunday January 7, said GSB honorary president Malati U Kamath while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday January 3.

As part of the celebrations, ‘Konkani Divas’ will be organised on January 6 in which executive managing editor, Taranga, Manipal Sandhya Pai will preside. Dr Ravindranath Shanbhag and Vidya R Shanbhag will be the chief guests.

Sandhya Shevgoor and Veena Dhari will be honoured on the occasion in recognition of their contribution to Konkani literature and social work respectively.

There will be an exhibition ‘Saraswatha Loka” by women who have chosen self-employment after attending various courses offered by GSB. The exhibition, to be held at the Bhuvanendra Hall, Canara Boys School here, will be inaugurated by mayor Vijaya Arun at 10 am.

The celebrations will continue on January 7 at T V Raman Pai Conference Hall at 4 pm. GSB Mahila Vranda Bangalore former president Mohini D Pai will preside while former state minister for large scale industries R V Deshpande will release a souvenir.

TMA Pai Foundation president K K Pai, MLA Yogish Bhat, Corporation Bank executive director K L Gopalkrishna, Canara Bank deputy general manager T D Pai, Syndicate Bank deputy general manager K U Shanbhag and Bangalore Kashimatt president Dayanand Pai are expected to attend the programme.

Mangalore University women’s study centre director Dr Kishori Nayak, honorary directory of Konkani Studies, Sukrathindra Oriental Research Institute, Kochi, Dr Sunita Bai and SDM Mangalajyothi Inclusive education school music teacher Kasturi will be felicitated on the occasion.
