Beltangady, Jan 3: Karnataka State Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy visited Dharmasthala on Wednesday Jan 3 to attend Pragathipara Group programme.
Kumaraswamy said that there will be a complete ban on liquor and lottery (even on-line lottery) by the next financial year.
Later speaking at a progamme organsied to distribute dividend to various Self-Help Groups held at Dharmasthala he said that the youth are lured by on-line lotteries and land up losing money. Lottery and liquor are two factors that make people poor and make life miserable. Both these must be banned, the CM said.
Pleased by the success and the socio-economic reforms brought about by the SHGs in Belthangady region, CM said that Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade should expand his projects to the entire state. The CM also asked Heggade to discuss possibilities of establishment of SHGs all over the state.
Rs 10 crore per district to set up the SHGs would also be given, the CM assured. Speaking about the Nagarjuna Thermal power plant, Kumaraswamy said that the acute power shortage makes power plants essential.
