Solar plants to power Uttar Pradesh schools

Lucknow, Jan 29 (IANS): The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install 1KV solar plants in all schools, an official said Thursday.

Also, a submersible solar water pump will be installed in the schools through which RO-purified water will be provided to the children.

Principal Secretary Jeevesh Nandan said a pilot project would be implemented in 50 primary schools this year.

The solar plants would be set up with a five-year comprehensive warranty and maintenance clause, he added.

A service center would be established in all districts to ensure that the plants function without any problems, the official said.
