Udupi, Jan 4: "Conservation of Western Ghats is the absolutely necessary in order to preserve the coastal area. In this regard the government should declare this area as ecologically-sensitive area," said noted environmentalist Anant Hegde Ashisara who is also leading the opposition against setting up of thermal plant at Thadadi in Uttara Kannada district.
Speaking at the protest being organized against Nagarjuna at Padubidri near here, he said that the government should back out from Nagarjuna project which is dangerous to nature as well as human beings in many ways.
MP Manorama Madhwaraj, ZP member Shashikant Padubidri, Mudarangadi GP president David D'Souza, TP members Ramesh Kanchan, Lakshman Shetty of NJJS and others were also present at the protest meet.
