Free eye testing camp held on fifth anniv of Souharda Sahakari

Mangaluru, Jan 31: Prasad Netralaya, Shantinagara Seva Samithi, Netra Jyothi and district department of health jointly held free Eye test and treatment camp on the occasion of fifth anniversary of Mangalore Sauharda Sahakari Ltd near Mangalore Store on January 25, at 9.30 am.

The programme started with invocation by Nayana Bekal. K Bhaskar Rao, former corporator who presided over the programme welcomed and gave a key note address. MLA J R Lobo lit the traditional lamp and inaugurated the camp. He praised the organization for holding the camp and explained that it would be good to donate our eyes after our death.

Chief guest, MLC Ivan D'Souza, appreciated the programme and promised of additional funds for the work. The opposition leader Premananda Shetty hoped that the organization opens new branches in future.

Local corporator T K Shailaja, Dr Sahana and Dr Divya of Prasad Netralaya conveyed their best wishes. Directors P Narayana Alva, Raghunath Rai, A Krishna Bhat, K Harish, Shobha Rani, Austin Jayakar, Pundalik Suvarna and secretary Veena Dinesh were present.

Prabhakar Sriyan, T K Sudheer, Ramananda Poojary, Nagendra Kumar, Lions J K Rao, Koragappa Varija, Venkatesh Jeppu, Vasanth Shetty, Madhava Shantinagara, Manjunath Kadri, Pascal Shantinagara, Bhujanga Rao and Kaushik cooperated in the programme.

In all, 30 surgeries took place and 60 spectacles were distributed among the visitors in the camp. Lioness Kalpana Venkatesh compered the programme. Shobha Rani proposed vote of thanks.
