Udupi, Jan 6: The proposal of introducing eggs in mid-day meals, has been opposed by Pejawar seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji. Milk or fruits could be provided instead of eggs he said.

The chief minister and the deputy chief minister had announced that eggs would soon be part of mid-day meal scheme in the schools throughout the state. The seer opined that this would hurt the sentiments of a large number of school children in the state, who are vegetarians. He added that a delegation of Swamijis would shortly meet the chief minister to demand the withdrawal of the proposal.
