New Delhi, Feb 2 (NDTV): Narendra Tandon was back with the BJP about 16 hours after quitting it over what he described as the "dictatorial attitude" of Kiran Bedi, the party's candidate for Chief Minister of Delhi. "It was an emotional outburst," said Tandon of the resignation letter he sent last night, his EQ or Emotional Quotient apparently rebalanced after a meeting with BJP chief Amit Shah.
Tandon was assigned as an aide to help manage Bedi's campaign which has her taking on Arvind Kejriwal of the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP.
When news of his resignation broke this morning, BJP spokespersons described Tandon as a repeat offender in embarrassing the party; his exit would not have much impact, they predicted.
But till he returned to the fold, his comments and action underscored the deep resentment that Bedi has generated among a section of the BJP's veteran leaders from Delhi over her starry induction into the party last month tailgated with the quick announcement that she was its presumptive Chief Minister.
The resulting dissent forced the party's top leadership to take control of the campaign for Delhi, which votes on February 7 for its next government.
"To the BJP, I would say 'get well soon'," said Yogendra Yadav of the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP which is hoping to form the Delhi government a year after its last administration quit in haste.
Opinion polls have so far given the BJP the edge over AAP. The Prime Minister is addressing four rallies in the capital to draw support for Bedi. But the fact that senior union ministers have been asked to address public meetings and over 120 law-makers have been tasked to coordinating the party's efforts in different constituencies highlight the import of the battle for the BJP.

Narendra Tandon quits BJP, blames Kiran Bedi
New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI): In an embarrassment to BJP, its Chief Ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi's campaign assistant Narendra Tandon today quit the party just days ahead of Delhi polls, accusing her of adopting "dictatorial" attitude.
Tandon, a former secretary of the party' city unit and a permanent invitee to Delhi BJP's executive committee, tendered his resignation saying it was difficult for him to continue working with Bedi.
BJP, however, said his quitting the party will not in any way affect its election preparations as he was a "low-level" functionary and his performance was "not impressive".
Tandon, who was part of Bedi's campaign team after she was named the chief ministerial candidate by BJP for the February 7 assembly election, said, "I resigned from BJP today because of Bedi's dictatorial attitude".
"It was difficult for me to continue under her," Tandon said.
Asked about Tandon's resignation, Bedi refused to comment.
Delhi BJP, however, appeared unfazed and claimed he had "created trouble" in the past too.
"His past record is not very impressive. He has created trouble for the party in the past as well. He had filed nomination against party candidate Rajni Abbi in the 2013 assembly polls in Timarpur constituency," Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, adding that Tandon's resignation will not affect the party.
Tandon was general secretary of Delhi University's Students Union in late 1990s during his stint with BJP's ABVP. He rose through the party ranks and later became secretary of Delhi BJP when O P Kohli was made the city unit chief.
