Bantwal, Jan 6: Shivshankar Bhat (41), popularly known as "Car Shivanna" was electrocuted in the pump-shed of his house on Friday January 5 morning.

Shivshankar was the son of the late Rama Bhat of Parakkaje near Kanyana of Vittal.  He was a car driver by profession and was having a cab for rental at Vittal for the last 15 years.  He was however well-known as 'Car Shivanna' in the vicinity.

On Friday morning he had gone to the pumpshed near his house to put on the water pump.  But he did not return for long.  Accordingly, one of his family members went in search of him and found him fallen on the water pump owing to electrocution. 

he had sustained serious injuries to his waist and thighs.  Though he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Puttur, he breathed his last on the way.  He is survived by wife and a child.

The car drivers' association of Vittal called an emergency meeting after the death of Shivanna and organized a condolence meeting.  Rich tributes were paid by localites and car drivers to Shivanna during the meet.
