Mumbai, Feb 3: Mumbai university with the cooperation of Kendra Sahitya Academy of New Delhi held special lecture, literary dialogue and release of literary works programmes in Ranade Bhavan, Kannada department in Mumbai university campus on Tuesday, January 27.

Srinath Shanker and Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharastra unit president H B L Rao were present on the occasion. Dr Vasanth Bharadhwaj gave a lecture on Pampa Bharatha and Dr Ramasheshan gave a lecture on Kumaravyasa Bharatha. Dramatist customs scholar Subraya Bhat created Ahobala Shanker work was released by Sridhar Ahobala on the occasion.














Dr Vasanth Bharadhwaj speaking on Pampa Bharatha said that the poem should be read by different poets, critics and like minded people and understand the meaning in it. Dr Shivarama Karanth has shown that there are different ways to grasp and relish Yakshagana. Ancient legislations have shown that Yakshagana started in thirteenth century.
Yakshagana has a history of 700 years. Yakshagana is a synthesis of dramatics, dance, acting and singing. There are literary values in Yakshagana recitations, he said.

Dr Ramasheshan, speaking about Kumaravyasa said that his literature has its own value. Speaking about poet Pampa, he said that the description in poetry of Pampa is wonderful. “He had imagination. Unique specialties can be found in his poetry”, he said. He explained
the beauty of local poetry with examples.

Dr G N Upadhya speaking on the occasion, said that the literary relationships between Kannada and Marathi literature should be preserved. The programmes such as this are conducive for it, he said.

Subraya Bhatta spoke saying that Ahobala Shanker had created the necessary inspiration for poets to write. He supported the relationships between elders and the young. It is necessary to have a discussion on his way of thinking, he said.

Srinath Shanker said that they have grown in the atmosphere of right and wrong in the shadow of his father. He had no interest in translation but gradually he started translating for his living and became famous, he said.

Mumbai university head of the department of Kannada Dr G N Upadhya welcomed and gave a key note address. Mysore association president K Kamala, Karnataka sangha honorary chief secretary Omdas Kannangar, Dr Vishwanath Karnad, S K Sunder, Y V Madhusoodan Rao, Sushila Devadiga and others were present. Dr Poornima S Shetty compered the programme.
