Adam appointed India's Under-17 football team coach


New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS): Nicolai Adam was Thursday appointed the head coach of the national Under-17 football team, ahead of the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup to be held in India.

The UEFA Pro-Licence holder is at present working as the head coach of the U-19 Azerbaijan team, having guided them to the Elite Group of UEFA. He will take charge from April 1, announced the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

He has also served as the national coach for the Under-16 and Under-17 teams of Azerbaizan and as the International Football Development Advisor of the German Football Association (DFB).

“We are pleased to have him on board. He comes with great credentials and recommendations and his experience, I hope will help us immensely to field a competitive team for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup," AIFF general secretary Kushal Das said.
