Kabul, Feb 5 (IANS): Unidentified armed men opened fire at police personnel, killing one on the spot and injuring another in Afghanistan's western Herat province Thursday, a police spokesman said.

"Two unknown armed persons riding a motorbike opened fire on police in Herat city at around 9.30 a.m. today (Thursday), killing one on the spot and badly injuring another,” spokesman Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Xinhua news agency.

The attackers made good their escape, he added.
