Mangalore, Jan 10: Dharma Jyothi Social Centre of Vamanjoor near here which has been involved in the emancipation of women, youth and children is turning silver this year.  The centre has organized the silver jubilee celebrations on Sunday January 14 evening at Vidya Jyothi school premises.

This was announced by Sr Daphni, director of Dharma Jyothi at a press conference held here on Wednesday January 10.

Dharma Jyothi Social Centre was started in 1981 under the dynamic leadership of Sr Maria Goretti who is now the Superior General of the congregation.  Dharma Jyothi today has 112 villages under its wings, with 32 SHGs, 4 women's clubs, 4 youth clubs and 7 children's clubs who are being constantly guided by a dedicated and qualified team of social workers.

Superior General of SRA congregation Sr Maria Goretti who is also the founder of Dharma Jyothi will be presiding over the silver jubilee celebrations while Dakshina Kannada ZP president Mamata Gatti will grace the occasion as guest of honour.

Msgr Edwin C Pinto, correspondent of Mount Rosary Organization, Alangar, Fr Onil D'Souza of CODP, Fr Alphonsus D'Lima, parish priest of Vamanjoor Church, Prof Rita Noronha of Roshni Nilaya, corporator K Jayaprakash and Sr Laveena, SRA, superior of Queen of Apostles Convent, Vamanjoor will be the chief guests on the occasion.

Organizing committee members T Nagendra Rao, Ashok S and social activist Lily Maria were also present at the press conference.
