Mumbai, Jan 10: The 49th annual celebrations of Kannada Sangha Santacruz were celebrated at Billawa Bhavan here on Saturday January 6. The Suvarna Karnataka celebrations and scholarship distribution programme were also organized on the occasion.

Sangha president L V Ameen presided over the programme while Billawa Association president Jaya C Suvarna inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

Jayashrikrishna Parisara Samiti president Vishwanath U Mada was the chief guest while Mumbai University Kannada department lecturer Dr G N Upadhyaya was the guest of honour.

Scholarships and talent awards were presented to students of Municipal Kannada School on the occasion.

Social and cultural sub-committee working president B R Poonja welcomed the gathering while honorary chief secretary B D Suvarna presented the annual report.

Honorary treasurer Chandrahas J Kotian, Shivaram Kotian, Sudhakar Poojary and others were present. Secretary Sujata R Shetty proposed the vote of thanks.

Children of the Sangha members presented cultural programmes on the occasion. The Gurunarayana Yakshagana troupe presented a Tulu Yakshagana ‘Damayanti Punar Swayamwar’.
