Bantwal, Jan 11: The police have arrested two persons including the owner of a private bus for robbing off superintendent of intelligence bureau at Vagga near here on Wednesday January 10 night.

The arrested have been identified as bus conductor and owner Prashanth and bus driver Jai Ram.  Intelligence SP Mahantesh was on his way to Beltangady from Bantwal, when it met with a small accident with a private bus coming from opposite direction.

This led to exchange of heated argument between both the parties. While the bus staff demanded SP and his driver to pay for the damage, the latter said to settle it through case.  Meanwhile the bus staff assaulted SP Mahantesh and his driver and robbed off Rs 1,500 from SP and Rs 500 from his driver and fled the place.

The police received information in this regard later.  In an immediate operation they arrested both the accused and registered a case against them.  SP Mahantesh has however received treatment in a hospital here on Wednesday night.
