Udupi, Jan 11: The south zone finals of India’s largest inter-collegiate rock music competition Hero Honda Campus Rock Idols Tour 2006-07 will be held at Shanthala Football Grounds in Manipal here on Saturday January 27.  The regional selection will also be done on the same day.

A press release stated that the competition, meant for amateur bands at the college level, is being conducted for the third consecutive year. The grand finale will be held in Pune on February 11.

The competition, which would begin on Saturday January 13, would be held in 10 cities including Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, Delhi and Ahmedabad.

The top two bands in the zonal level will move to the finals. The winner at Pune will get a chance to perform with internationally known band Iron Maiden. The runners up will get cash awards and other prizes.

The event has been sponsored by Hero Honda Motors Limited in association with Nokia, Reliance, World Space and VH 1 and organised by DNA Networks Pvt Ltd.

About 350 bands are expected to participate in the competition, the release stated.
