ABU DHABI — Jan. 12:The current Eye Scan System across the country's checkpoints has achieved very good results and has helped combat illegal entry into the country, Brigadier Ahmed Nassir Al Raiessi, Director General of the General Department of the Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, has said.

Brig Al Raiessi said the Eye Scan System had made it almost impossible for deported people to come back to the country on forged passports.

He also disclosed that since the system was introduced on October 12, 2002, the authorities had detected and foiled as many as 117,653 attempts to enter the country on forged documents.

Brig. All Raiessi has praised Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, for bringing such advanced security systems to the country.  He said the UAE’s successful experiment with the Eye Scan System was an example for other countries to follow.

The system has been installed at all the checkpoints in the UAE, including airports, seaports, and land checkpoints.
