Sullia, Jan 13: A middle-aged housewife was battered to death by her relative on Thursday January 11 evening at Katikkaje-Mavinadi near Delampadi here.
Girija (45), wife of Muttu Naik of Mavinandi was hit to death with wooden club by here nephew Ganapa (26) while she was fetching water from the farm of her neighbouring house. Ganapa is the son of Buddha Naik, the elder brother Muttu Naik. He hit Girija with a wooden club on her head and face owing to which she sustained serious internal injuries and died on the spot.
The murder is said to be the result of family rivalry between Muttu Naik and his brother Buddha Naik. They had a long-pending property dispute which had been the source of regular fights between both the families.
The accused Ganapa is still at large and police are on a hunt to nab him. A complaint has been filed in the Adur police station in this regard.
