Will make Delhi safe for everyone: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS): Newly sworn-in Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday condemned attacks on Christian institutions in the national capital.

Addressing a gathering of thousands in Ramlila Maidan soon after taking oath as chief minister, he said during his tenure, incidents like the recent church attacks will not be tolerated.

"No matter what religion we follow, we all celebrate Diwali, Id, Christmas... We celebrate all festivals together and we want to go forward together. Some churches have been attacked. We wouldn't tolerate this (church attack). The people of people will not tolerate this," Kejriwal said.

He said he will make the city safe for everyone irrespective of their religion.

"With Delhi Police, though it doesn't come under Delhi government, we will make Delhi where people of every religion will feel safe. We want to make such a Delhi where every Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian would feel safe," he said.

In the past two months, there have been incidents of attacks on churches and other Christian institutions. A prominent school was vandalised Friday.
