Belenenses, Sporting draw 1-1 in Portuguese league

Lisbon, Feb 15 (IANS): Belenenses were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Sporting at the Restelo Stadium in the 21st round of the Portuguese football league.

Belenenses forward Rui Fonte scored in the 70th minute, however, Sporting forward Carlos Mane equalised in the fourth minute of extra time to deny the home side a win Saturday, reported Xinhua.

Colombian forward Fredy Montero almost put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute but his effort was saved by Belenenses goalkeeper Hugo Ventura.

Belenenses midfielder Miguel Rosa nearly scored in the 26th minute but his right-footed effort went wide.

Sporting are third in the Portuguese league with 44 points and Belenenses are in sixth place with 31 points.
