Congress out to defame Chouhan: BJP

New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS): The BJP Tuesday rubbished the charges leveled by the Congress against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's alleged involvement in the 2013 education scam in the state, describing it as a ploy to "defame" him.

"We completely deny these allegations. It's a conspiracy to defame a very successful chief minister," Bharatiya Janata Party leader Prakash Javadekar said.

The Congress Monday alleged that Chouhan's name was "removed" from an excel sheet related to the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, claiming that the sheet mentioned "CM" against the name of as many as 48 of the 131 illegal appointees.

However, Javadekar stripped the claimed evidence off any credibility, saying it was "all based on forgery... the document is all humbug".

As the the Congress has been marginalized in Madhya Pradesh, attempts are being made to dent the popularity of a successful chief minister of the BJP, he said.
