Video shows official saying he ordered boat blown up

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS): A Coast Guard official, who said he ordered that a Pakistani boat be blown up, Wednesday denied making the statement. However, an Indian Express video showed the official, saying "Blow the boat off...We don't want to serve them biryani".

Coast Guard Deputy Inspector General (DIG) B.K. Loshali Wednesday refuted media reports that said he ordered the blowing up of a suspected Pakistani boat on the intervening night of Dec 31 and Jan 1 off Porbandar in Gujarat.

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad, the officer said media reports quoting him as saying that he ordered that the suspected boat be blasted were wrong and not factual.

"The operation was not handled by me. I was not fully privy to it," he told reporters.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar told the media in Bengaluru that the Coast Guard issue "could be discussed later".

The Indian Express Wednesday put up the video on their website, which shows Loshali speaking at the launch ceremony of an interceptor boat in Surat Feb 16.

The little over a minute long video shows the senior Coast Guard officer saying: "I hope you remember 31st December night".
"We blew off the Pakistan...We have blown them off.

"I was there at Gandhinagar and I told at night blow the boat off...We don't want to serve them biryani".

In early January, Parrikar had said that the people of a Pakistani vessel that blew up and sank off the coast of Gujarat were "suspected terrorists" and did not appear to be smugglers.

He also confirmed that another boat was also traced but it was in international waters.

According to the defence ministry, the suspicious boat was intercepted by the Coast Guard based on an intelligence input Dec 31, and it was traced in the Arabian Sea, 365 km off Porbandar in Gujarat.

The dramatic incident was a reminder of the manner Pakistani terrorists sneaked into Mumbai in 2008.

The vessel, which had set off from near Karachi on New Year's Eve, turned into a ball of fire and sank after its occupants, believed to be four in number, set fire to it early Jan 1.

Official's statement on Pakistan boat to be probed: Parrikar

Bengaluru, Feb 18 (IANS): Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar Wednesday said that he will enquire into a Coast Guard official saying he ordered a Pakistani boat be blown up.

"I will enquire...I will go through the video," said Parrikar referring to a video on the Indian Express website which shows Coast Guard Deputy Inspector General (DIG) B.K. Loshali saying he ordered the blowing up of a suspected Pakistani boat on the intervening night of Dec 31 and Jan 1 off Porbandar in Gujarat.

Parrikar told reporters here that he will take a look at the controversial video and then "take action if required".

"You have to understand my position. There are 15-16 lakh service personnel, if someone makes a statement which is factually incorrect I will take action after enquiring into it."

The defence minister said "I will release evidence" of the incident.

The suspicious boat was intercepted by the Coast Guard based on an intelligence input Dec 31, and it was traced in the Arabian Sea, 365 km off Porbandar in Gujarat.

A judicial enquiry is a Must on this issue. It cannot be left to the Politicians and the CBI to defend or deny statements. The nation should know the truth and the concerned Union Minister should resign if the news is true.

There is a saying in English. "YOU CAN FOOL SOME PEOPLE SOMETIME BUT YOU CANNOT FOOL ALL PEOPLE ALL THE TIME". This goes well with BJP and particularly Mr.Parrikar.He and Modi thought they will score some brownie points by destroying a boat which was smuggling diesel from Karachi to Gujarat coast. they knew it well that this is nothing but some smugglers but they took this opportunity and blew it. Later it was a good story for them to tell that they were terrorists and we bravely fought them and they blew themselves. They thought all will believe them but the truth came out from the officer who did this dirty job for them and could not keep it to himself. Now the truth is out and they don't know how to cover it up.The only option they have to say now is the officer is crazy or drukerd or put some other blame on him and crucify him.
This is BJP my people and this is Modi Raj. Wait and see how much more is there to happen.

The silence of Pakistani side clearly says that those who were killed in the explosion were possible terrorists.

The same daijiworld readers use to comment here to hang Ajmal Kasab and not to serve him biriyani after 26/11 but now time has changed and they want to blame Modi & his govt for each & every issues. This shows their patriotism towards their motherland. Im really sad to see these comments from my fellow Indians.

Our problem is our TRP hungry media. They do not even care about security of the country. They just make a issue out of simple statements and feed and support terrorists and country like Pakistan.

In this case if the boat was an innocent fishermen boat they would have allowed for searching. If that was the case even Pakistan would have made lot of noise then. The boat was certainly on some evil mission. For security, in context like this when you do not stop it is natural to fire shots. In this case whether the boat blew up or our coast guard shot them end result is always GOOD for our country. But how to explain this to our media men who always think about TRP and not about security of the country. In some cases for national security reason things should kept secret and let us trust our armed forces. Do NOT demoralize them, please.

Suppose, the Coast Guard did not act. Consequence One, enemy would have entered our coast and carried out attack then What ? Do we keep quiet and don't blame CG for being relaxed/inactive etc ?
consequence two-The enemy make suicide attack CG Vessel, We lose our brave men along with the vessel.
Which we would prefer. Definitely not both.
The message sent is very clear.
Are we here to demoralize our brave men for the sake of argument ?
How fare our enemy is ? Have they spared our innocent Civilians? Whenever they get chance they hit us. I should say its lesson learnt and mission completed.
The media hype is damaging the national interest and reputation of country.

all paid bhakts need to UNDERSTAND that every year thousands of fishermen are caught on the wrong side, from both sides. Do we just blow them up?

If what this DIG has said is true, that means the Gujarat model of fake encounters has now been scaled up to the coast guard, and any sensible person should be very worried about this.

Even hundreds of Indian Fishermen get caught and ARRESTED by Paki coast guard near SIR CREEK every month.

By such fake encounters, pakis will now be inclined to KILL our wandering fishermen instead of arresting them as per the standard PROTOCOL.

FOOLISH BJPigs and their feku saheb.

    n.m

if they are fisherman, then why pak govt is not protesting in international
forum that thier fisherman and his vessel have been blown up for tresspassing into
indian waters instead of being arested by indian side?pak has sent its boat in the guise of fisherman
vessel to infiltrate into india. thats the reason pak is not making an issue out of it and
infact publicly stated that the boat which was blown up by indian side was not its vessel..

second,in case of fisherman vessels they will suddenly show white flags when they are intercepted by opposite armies of india or pak.
but this vessel instead of fishing was moving towards indian coast and trying to mingle with indian boats and
when indaian coastguard intercepted it,instead of surrendering it tried to escape into international waters.these points
are more than enough to blow it up by indian coastguards.

Sunil - Ok assuming that it was a terrorist boat then where is the debris?

If there is a forensic investigation on the boat debris then Parrikar & BJP top brass might be caught red handed.

....Or was it a dummy operation by BJP's Defence Ministry in order to score some brownie points in front of the media and display their pro-activeness?

This is a mystery...and now BJP is being exposed.

The same media has done live telecast of Mumbai attack which helped Pakistan's ISI to guide the terrorists in Mumbai. These media wants only TRP. They cannot understand the internal security of our country. If they do understand, they wouldn't have madi this video public. Already Dongi party leader Manish Tiwari sought explanation from defense minister. He said nation wants to know what had happened. Certain things must be kept secret for the good of our nation.

This is what some of our anti-national media like Indian Express are doing. They don't realize that they are able to good night sleep only because of our brave security men who are guarding our borders. Regardless of the truth, this boat was suspicious in nature which deserved to be burned down if they had not surrendered. We cannot afford to have 26-11 again in this country. Jai Hind.

    what is special in this?

a susupicious boat whether it is indian or pakistani or any other foreign boat enters within the boundaries of any countries waters,it is a common international procedure to first ask it to disclose the identity and its intentions.if they are unable to answer then opposite party has every right to blow it up bcoz it is nothing but aggression against the country by tresspassing. without thier permission.

the main question is how apak boat has that much guts in them to sail as clod=se togujrat coast?there is sure some ploy of pakis in it.
india doesnt want to take chances as it is these type of small boats which was responsible for 26/11 mumbai incident.morever why no one from pak has claimed this boat as thiers tells the fact that it has been sent for specific motives.

only in the international waters they are free to roam without anyones permission.

good job by the coastguard by blowing it up as unnecessary problem has been avoided.
