Decision on media entry Thursday: Delhi government

New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS): The four-day-old AAP government will take a decision Thursday on allowing entry for media to the Delhi government secretariat building after meeting senior media representatives, an official said Wednesday.

"We will be meeting tomorrow (Thursday) morning to sort out this matter," said Ratnesh Mishra, chairman of the Delhi Press Accreditation Committee.

A delegation of five-six senior media personnel including photo, video and print journalists will be meeting representatives of the government in an effort to end the impasse.

According to a senior journalist in the know, new guidelines on media entry and access to the secretariat are likely to be released after the meeting.

The Arvind Kejriwal led-government has not allowed media persons to enter the Delhi Secretariat since Monday, the new government's first working day leaving many journalists incensed.

The decision was taken following a scuffle among some journalists, TV crew and photographers.

Following the altercation, a press conference by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Delhi government spokesperson Nagendra Sharma was called off.
