BJP observes second anniversary of Hyderabad’s twin blasts

Hyderabad, Feb 21 (IANS): The second anniversary of the twin bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar here was observed Saturday by BJP which paid tributes to the victims.

The twin blasts at a road side eatery and a nearby bus stop in the crowded area killed 18 people and injured 131 others on Feb 21, 2013.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised a meeting at the blast site to pay tributes to the victims.

BJP’s Telangana unit president G. Kishan Reddy demanded the state government to take immediate measures for rehabilitation of the affected families.

He said many families lost their bread winners in the blasts and many injured turned handicapped.

Alleging that Hyderabad has turned into a shelter for terrorists, Kishan Reddy demanded the government to come down heavily on those indulging in anti-national activities.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which probed the blasts, has so far arrested five accused.

Main accused Riyaz Bhatkal is believed to be holed up in Pakistan.

The first breakthrough in the blast came six months after the blasts when Indian Mujahideen (IM) operatives Mohammed Ahmed Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akthar were arrested, in Bihar close to the Nepal border.

The NIA later arrested three other accused - Waqas, Tehseen Akhtar and Aijaz Sheikh.
The investigating agency last year filed two charge sheets in the case.
