Drug peddler jailed for seven years


New Delhi, Feb 22 (IANS): A widow drug peddler was sentenced to jail for seven years and fined Rs.70,000 by a court here, sources said Sunday.

The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Special Judge M.R. Sethi Friday sentenced Kusum for illegally possessing 500 grams of heroin.

According to police, Kusum was arrested red handed near a school at Rohini in west Delhi in January 2012.

In April 2012, the court framed charges under provisions of NDPS act for possessing commercial quantity of drugs.

In order to substantiate the allegations, the prosecution examined 11 witnesses.
