Akhilesh Yadav to present budget Tuesday

Lucknow, Feb 24 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who holds the finance portfolio, will be presenting the budget for 2015-16 in the state assembly on Tuesday.

The cabinet chaired by Akhilesh Yadav Monday approved budget proposals for various departments, an official said.

The cabinet gave its green signal to more than a dozen major proposals for which funds have been earmarked. Under the new proposals, a new tehsil has been sanctioned for Mughalsarai while a quality control mechanism for the Agra Lucknow Expressway has also been approved by the state cabinet.

The cabinet also gave a go ahead to allocation of Rs.125 crore for the new police headquarters.

The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh assembly has been underway since Feb 18 but not much business has been transacted, largely owing to the ongoing tiff between the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
