Hackers attack Chilean defence ministry website

Santiago, Feb 25 (IANS/EFE): Hackers attacked the Chilean defence ministry's website and posted a supposed message from the Islamic State jihadi group, officials said Tuesday.

The hack affected the main page of the ministry's website and the image of a masked individual appeared around 10.30 p.m Monday with the words "hacked" and "Sadam Husein", and the messages "We are ISIS, Don't forget me" and "Allah is the only God."

The attack lasted just a few minutes and ministry officials were able to quickly regain control of the website.

"The situation activated the corresponding alerts, measures were taken for its resolution and the ministry's sensitive information and e-mails were not at risk," the ministry said in a statement.

An investigation will be conducted to "identify the origin of the incident", the ministry said.
