Dhaka, Feb 25 (IANS): Enforcers of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's transport blockade torched a parked bus in central Bangladesh, burning two people who were asleep in the vehicle.

The bus owner, Sohrab Hossain, said the vehicle was totally burnt in the arson attack on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway's Saoghat area of Rupganj in Narayanganj around 3.30 a.m. Wednesday, bdnews24.com reported.

Victims Monir Mia, 26, the driver's assistant, and his friend, Shakil Ahmed, 25, assistant of another bus driver, were sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, Bhulta police post Sub-Inspector Robiul Islam said.

Sohrab said the BNP protesters hurled petrol bombs at the bus parked in front of Bismillah Filling Station.

The police officer said they were trying to arrest those involved in the attack.
