38 militants killed in Egypt


Cairo, Feb 26 (IANS): At least 38 militants were killed and 27 injured in overnight raids on militant hideouts by the Egyptian forces in Sinai province, a security source said Wednesday.

The raids, that started late Tuesday and continued till early Wednesday, were carried out in Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid cities, Xinhua reported.

The militants belonged to the Sinai-based and Al Qaeda-inspired Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis (ABM) group, which had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State(IS) terrorist group, the source said.
