Railway Budget: Quality of bed linen to be improved


New Delhi, Feb 26 (IANS): The Railways will launch within the next six months a programme to improve the design, quality and cleanliness of bed linen, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said here Thursday.

Presenting his maiden Railway Budget in the Lok Sabha, he said the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Delhi has been approached for designing bed linen.

Additionally, the facility of online booking of disposable bedrolls at select stations is being extended to all passengers through the IRCTC portal on payment basis, Prabhu said.

"The railways will also increase the number of mechanized laundries," the minister added.
