From Sanjay Borkar in Margao for Daijiworld Media Network - Goa

Margao, Jan 29: The Indian Coast Guard will be celebrating its 30th Raising Day on February 1. To commemorate this occasion, the Indian Coast Guard conducted various activities, and also a painting competition for school children.

The painting competition was held at Navy Children School, NOFRA, Dabolim Airport Road.

Students of various schools from Vasco, Madgaon and Panaji participated in this event. The theme for the competition was “Global Preservation and Protection of Marine Environment for future.” The painting competition was judged by Dr Subodh Kerkar, the renowned artist of Goa as the chief jury member.

The Commander, Coast Guard, Goa Area, DIG MS Dangi was present for the event as Chief Guest.

Certificates to all participants and attractive prizes for outstanding entries in each category were awarded by the Chief Guest, Commander, Coast Guard, Goa Area.

The competition was an eye opener for the children and the schools regarding the role and activities of Indian Coast Guard as the National agency for ensuring marine environment security in India.
