Pakistan PM to visit Saudi Arabia

Islamabad, Feb 28 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit Saudi Arabia next week to meet the new king.

The prime minister's office said Sharif would travel on "a special invitation" from King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Dawn online reported Saturday.

Sharif had visited Saudi Arabia twice in January -- once to inquire about the health of then King Abdullah and then to attend his funeral.

He then held extensive talks with then Crown Prince Salman on issues facing the Muslim world and the financing of terror groups in Pakistan by some Saudi entities.

Sharif lived in Saudi Arabia after being ousted by the military in 1999. He returned to Pakistan in 2008.
