Pakistan sends aid to Afghanistan for avalanche

Islamabad, Feb 28 (IANS): Pakistan sent relief goods Saturday to the avalanche-hit people in Afghanistan, officials said.

Afghan officials say avalanches in Panjshir valley have killed nearly 250 people and displaced thousands of others.

"To express solidarity with our Afghan brethren, two C130 aircraft were dispatched carrying relief goods for victims of avalanche-hit areas of Panjshir province in Afghanistan," Xinhua news agency quoted an army statement as saying.

The relief items include tents, blankets, stoves, eatables like rice, ready-to-eat meals and medicines.
