Mangalore, Jan 30: The city roads will at last be concretised with the district administration deciding to start works on the first phase of the conversion into four lanes by concreting the stretch from Ambedkar Circle (near Jyothi theatre) to Hampankatta. The works will begin from Thursday February 1.
Owing to the works, the traffic on the said roads will be diverted to other routes. The diversion will come into force from February 1 and continue till March 31.
Vehicles plying from Stat Bank through Hampankatta, including those that move towards Falnir, will now have to go through Hampankatta, Light House Hill, move towards Ambedkar Circle and then proceed.
Vehicles moving from Lalbagh to State Bank will have to take a right turn at PVS circle, pass Navbharat Circle and ply through K S Rao Road towards Hampankatta. Entry into K S Rao from Hampankatta will not be allowed.
Those moving from Mallikatta, Nantur though Bunts Hostel to State Bank will have to go to PVS and proceed through K S Rao Road to Hampankatta; while those moving towards State Bank from St Agnes will have to take a turn at the Horticulture junction, move towards Bendoorwell, pass through Karavali Circle, Kankanady Circle, Falnir Road and proceed through Hampankatta to State Bank. Vehicles moving from Pumpwell and Valencia towards Balmatta have to take the same route from Karvali Circle onwards.
Vehicles plying from Falnir to Light House Hill will be required to move towards Nehru Maidan road, take U-turn and proceed through Hampankatta towards Light House Hill.
Vehicles will not be allowed to move from Hampankatta to Kankanady. However, light vehicles will be allowed to move on all roads except on those on which works will be going on.
