Information and broadcasting ministry outlay up by 16.8 percent


New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS): The information and broadcasting ministry has been allocated Rs.3,711 crore in the 2015-16 union budget, marking an increase of 16.8 percent over the last fiscal, where the revised budget outlay was Rs.3,176.80 crore.

In the 2015-16 budget, the total grants-in-aid allocated to Prasar Bharati is Rs.2,869.55 crore, out of which Rs.45 crore is allocated for the Kisan Channel.

Films have been allocated Rs.130.69 crore and advertising and publicity gets Rs.91.02 crore.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who presented the 2015-16 budget in parliament Saturday, is also the minister for information and broadcasting.
