Puttur, Jan 31: Miscreants broke into the house of Siraj-ul-Haq, a fancy goods dealer in town, located near the Salmara railway gate on the night of January 27 and decamped with cash and valuables worth over Rs 3 lac.

Siraj had gone with his family on a visit to Madavoor in Kerala. Upon return, he discovered the theft. The front door was found open and clothes in the cupboard strewn all over the place.

The valuables stolen are said to include 29 sovereign gold and Rs 1.45 lac in cash.

The town police have registered a complaint in this regards. Sniffer dog sqaud and forensic experts have visited the spot.
