Trader shot dead near Gurgaon, traffic disrupted


Gurgaon, March 2 (IANS): A 47-year-old trader was shot dead by three unidentified assailants on Sunday evening outside his house in Sohna, 26 km from Gurgaon. Victim Sanjay Kumar, a timber merchant, was shifted to a private hospital in Gurgaon where he succumbed to his injuries.

Angry people disrupted the traffic on Gurgaon-Alwar road for hours following the incident. Common people and relatives of the deceased blocked traffic on the busy Gurgaon-Alwar road for hours on Monday. These people were demanding the immediate arrest of the persons responsible. In the wake of protests, Sohna market was closed.

Police has registered a case of murder. The family of the deceased have accused a man, who was earlier a partner of Sanjay, as the mastermind behind the murder.

Senior police officers, however, managed to restore normalcy. Police have detained some people related to the incident. The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination.
