Pakistan ready to provide assistance to Afghanistan: Sharif


Islamabad, March 3 (IANS): Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said his country stands with Afghanistan in its hour of need and will be happy to provide any further assistance to help the affected people.

Sharif made these remarks on Monday while meeting with Ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan, Janan Mosazai, here at the PM House, the Daily Times reported on Tuesday.

Sharif said relations with Afghanistan had undergone qualitative transformation since the new government took over last year.

He said Pakistan hoped that the process of peace talks within Afghanistan would speed up and reach a successful conclusion soon.

Sharif expressed satisfaction over the increased security cooperation between the two countries and said the visits of the army chief proved quite helpful in streamlining important matters.
