Mangalore, Feb 2: ICYM Kinnigoli is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. The culmination function of the jubilee celebration was held on Sunday January 28 at Kinnigoli Church ground.

Grand stage and arrangements of traditional flavour blended with use of modern technology were highlights of the function.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza had presided over the function. Bishop appreciated the youth of Kinnigoli for celebrating the jubilee in a meaningful and befitting way.

Mulki-Moodbidri MLA Abhaychandra Jain, former MLA Amarnath Pramod Kumar and Shaila Sequeira ZP members, Sr Inviolatha B S (provincial superior), ICYM director Fr Elias D’Souza , ICYM Kinnigoli deanery director Fr Ronald D’Souza were present as chief guests.

Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Fr Anil D’Silva and Fr Valerian Mendonca were also present on the dais along with animator Joyer Noronha, Sr Lolita and Prabha Patrao.

Valerian Sequeira, vice-president Kinnigoli parish council, Rocky D’Souza ICYM Kinnigoli president, Roshni Rodrigues, secretary were also present dais.

Rocky D’Souza, Roshni Rodrigues and Rachel presented the project reports.

Lancy Pinto inaugurated the “Professional Education for the Poor Scholarship.” While Lilly Aranha inaugurated “Youth Development Bureau and Digital centre” and Raymond Quadros’ representative Cecilia D’Souza inaugurated   “Toilet for poor families”

Prime sponsors were honoured on the occasion.  Prizes were distributed to all the winners of various competitions conducted by ICYM.  Drama and cultural programmes were organized during the event.

For remembrance of jubilee year, three major projects were inaugurated on this occasion.
  
Toilets for poor families of the parish: There are 12 poor families who do not have the toilet facility, ICYM has now provided them with new toilets.

Higher education fund for economically-backward talented students:
Under this project, every year one new deserving student from the parish will be helped to get higher education. This will help those students who are about to discontinue their studies due to their poor economic situation. 

Youth Development Bureau: This bureau will help youth to get prepared for competitive exams like IAS, IPS, NDA and other exams. It will impart career guidance to the youth and establish a well equipped Library which contains books to help youth to prepare for the competitive exams. 

ICYM Kinnigoli animator Joyer Noronha welcomed the guests. Former ICYM president William D’Souza read the silver jubilee report. Fr Patrick Rodrigues delivered the introductory remarks. Valerian Sequeira proposed the thanks.
