AAP sacks Bhushan, Yadav from top body

New Delhi, March 4 (IANS): The AAP announced Wednesday that it had ousted two top leaders, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, out of its decision-making Political Affairs Committee (PAC).

Party spokesman Kumar Vishwas made the announcement after a nearly six-hour meeting of the National Executive that followed a virtual war between the two leaders and loyalists of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

"The National Executive passed a resolution and it has been decided that Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav will not serve the PAC any more. They will be given new responsibilities in the party," he said.

He underlined that the Aam Aadmi Party remained a united force and would do all it can to meet the aspirations of the people of Delhi and the country.

"Everyone (in the party) will together take the party forward," he added.

The National Executive also rejected Kejriwal's offer to resign as the national convenor.

The nine-member PAC is the supreme body in the AAP, which was formed in 2012 and which stormed to power in Delhi last month by sweeping 67 of the 70 seats in the assembly.

Wednesday's meeting was called after Bhushan and Yadav were accused by Kejriwal supporters of leading a virtual rebellion against the AAP leader.

Earlier, Bhushan, a Supreme Court lawyer and an AAP founder, told the media: "We have been told that for the time being we are no more in the PAC."

He declined to elaborate and walked away, looking somewhat shaken.

Speaking separately, Yadav, a known political pundit, said the AAP decision would be announced by the party and he was no more authorized to make announcements on behalf of the party.

"As a disciplined worker of the party, I will try to fulfil whatever role is assigned to me to the best of my capacity."

He added: "The AAP has been formed with the sweat and labour of people. It should never dash people's hopes."

Very good move by AAP PAC, by ousting two top leaders, Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, out of its decision-making Political Affairs Committee (PAC).

Any divisive force should be curtailed from the bud itself but healthy criticism should be welcome. It should remain within 4 walls but not to make it public.

Not a good move at all. Both Yadav and Bhushan were great assets with clean image . The party should be bale to accept viewpoints of other senior members. Now I think AAP will be limited to Delhi that too only for 5 years. They have disappointed many AAP fans like me.

Whatever the understanding and internal adjustments, party image is already in the bad ratings in the mind of the people. We have to wait and see how this internal rift pacifies and the party remains united and how long. Keep your figures crossed.

The route cause of all these problems as rightly said by Kejriwal is Ahankar( Ego) and problems like these will continue in AAP as it is not a cadre based party .But the worst is many AAPians think that this type of difference of opinions itself is a strength actually this is a weakness for any party

Agree. AAP came with a promise to be different. Talked about inter party democracy....no high command...no one man show. But the first instance of disagreement ...throw the dissenters out of the party. Is this democracy? With a prty with this image I would appreciated if they proactively shown asn example one man on post....Unfortunate. Disappointed. I am not supporting Bhushan or Yadave...But the party should have handled better.

Even BT was created by Indira to cut communists in Mumbai mills and he too started with agitation/anarchy on the streets!.. you were used to cut BJP chances, by Gandhis and both of you finished "congress for ever"! ab democracy, mohalla sabha, referendum , blah blah gaya tel lene..

You didnt even ask your own volunteers, what is Salim and Prashant' contribution..? all along you used their polished faces and achievemnts of PIL and war against corruption and now ditched them royally by booting them out? SHAME ON YOU! if this was done by congress/BJP we would have understood.. even the communists have more freedom/liberty/democracy entrusted by p[oltibuerau than you I beleive! vhe vhe vhe

    People,

I find Arvind,Prashant and Yogendra all three are good and decent people...

Don't understand why can't they sit together and solve their problems themselves???

Wins and defeats are going to happen in politics and life...one should not take them very seriously...

Looks like its more to do with Arvind's supporters like Kumar Vishwas and Ashutosh problem's with Prashanth and Yogendra than anything to do with Arvind himself...

Anyway this is not good for AAP in long run...
