Udupi, Feb 3: In yet another case of bribery, Lokayukta police arrested Saligrama town panchayat executive officer Bojaraja Acharya red-handed here on Thursday February 1.
Following a complaint made by K P Shekar to Lokayukta SP Chandrashekar Prasad, the officer along with inspector Prasanna Ninjar conducted a raid and found cash amounting to Rs 2000 on Acharya’s table.
Shekar, in his complaint had accused Acharya of demanding Rs 10,000 to fix the rent of the building and later had demanded Rs 2,000. Shekhar is Acharya’s tenant.
After the news of the raid spread, town panchayat former member Kabyadi Vinay Kumar addressed a press conference in which he said that Acharya was innocent and alleged that he was trapped by his rivals.
