Eighteen arrested for Nagaland lynching incident

Kohima, Mar 8 (PTI): At least eighteen persons have been arrested in connection with the lynching incident in Dimapur even as protests against the killing continued to rock many parts of the state today.

Police said the arrests were made after going through the mobile video clippings of the incident.

Protests against the lynching were reported from different parts of the state, including Karimganj, and a strict vigil was being maintained to prevent any untoward incident.

The body of rape accused Syed Farid Khan was taken to his home town of Karimganj in Assam yesterday after it was handed over by Nagaland authorities.

Khan had been arrested on charge of raping a woman in Dimapur on February 24 and remanded to judicial custody in the Dimapur Central Jail the next day.

On March 5, a mob broke into the jail, dragged him out, stripped him naked, beat him up, pelted him with stones and dragged him behind a motor cycle with a rope tied around his waist for seven kms towards the centre of Dimapur town when he died from his injuries along the way.

The mob then hung his body at a clock tower.

Lynching as per telecast looked very barbarous.
But raping, that too by an outsider, reportedly a Bangladeshi infiltrator outrages the citizens.

There are conflicting reports from various quarters about where from where he is. If he is ex-army mans son, RAPING should be condemned even more. He should have had more discipline.

Valerian as for your knowledge rape accused is not a bengali migrant he is from a army family including his two brothers are in assam regiment...Nor medical report as of now hints whether there took any rape actually to believe in it this is not my judgement but police report..So it is premature to pass such judgement ....
Thanx that people from assam from particular community has to face bangladeshi migrant tag even if their family members are in Indian army from those so called self proclaimed internet patriots who doesn't serve in army ...
If he had really raped he deserves it...But one thing we are made to believe only in kashmir there is anti India sentiments ...I bet you can try the slogan nagaland is integral part of India in the middle of nagaland and see the reaction...
